NGS Charity Garden Day

The formal Gardens on St Michael's Mount belong to the St Aubyn Family, and have been built over the years since the initial creation of the walled Garden in 1780. The St Aubyn Family will open the Gardens specially on Sunday 15th June while the island is open to support the National Garden Scheme. All visitors, including National Trust members, are therefore required to buy a ticket for this event, where all the proceeds will be donated to the National Garden Scheme.

The National Garden Scheme (NGS) gives its visitors unique access to over 3300 exceptional private gardens here in the UK. It raises impressive amounts of money for Nursing and Health Charities through its admissions, teas, cakes and plant sales.
Thanks to the generosity of garden owners, volunteers and visitors the NGS have donated over £77.8 million to nursing and health charities over the years, and made an annual donation of over £3.8 million in 2025. The NGS are the biggest fundraiser for Marie Curie, but other core beneficiaries include Macmillan Cancer Support, Hospice UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute.

Please note: Ancient, rugged and steep, some parts of the island and castle can be tricky to navigate. Paths around the island are steep, cobbled and uneven with intermittent handrails. There are unguarded edges and steep drops. Sensible footwear is recommended. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to take a wheelchair or pushchair up to the Mount summit. Please see our Accessibility Statement here.
